Katsucon was pretty cool. I played way to much Super Mario Strikers. I love kicking ass at that game xp
I bought a "family pack" of pocky. It was really cheap, going for $5.50 I really don't know the percentage of it that I have eaten, but it's all good.
I also bought these really cool japanese sodas. I'll post a picture of them in the next day or two, but they have a marble blocking the liquid from coming out. you have to break the little plastic cap in half, and then using part of the broken half you push the marble down. This releases a ton of carbonation. On the first bottle (I bought two, they were cheap), I had no clue as to how to open it, so Ashley just smacks the bottle as hard as she could and it flew out of my hand. Liquid flew everywhere, but the bottle didn't smash nor did the marble go down. Then I figured it out!
I didn't see Cromartie Guy, which makes me pretty sad.
On the way to the convention I drew a chibi girl based on one of Ashley's, and it looks really really good. I've formulated my own style of drawing people, and it works really well for me. It's a cross between chibi and normal manga drawing. The head starts of bigger than the rest of the body (chibi style), but over time the proportions come into themselves and it looks just a tiny bit exaggerated. Of course I drew slanted shoulders and horrible hair, but it was more of a success than anything. Tonight and tomorrow I am working on some Naruto fan art. It should be pretty cool...
Overall Katsucon had less than half of the people that came last year. The only giant crowd was the Naruto 4 tournament, but that was all. You only had to wait one or two people for Guitar Hero, and there was usually always 4 open spots for Halo 2. I think it was the weather...
So, last year at Katsucon I took alot of pictures, mostly in the dealer room. Then I see this guy about 15 feet away from me with about 20 pencils sticking out of his mouth. So, I have to go over and see what he's all about. And he has this little sign on a piece of paper that says "I attend Cromartie High School." I take his picture, really not knowing what it meant.
It turns out Cromartie High School is a manga series. A really, really good manga series.
And then last summer we find ourselves at Otakon, selling leftover pocky that we didn't feel like eating. And who happens to walk by, but the one and only CROMARTIE GUY! He had left a few comments on my youtube video of the previous Katsucon, so he kindof 'knew' who I was. I think I gave him a sharpie to put in his mouth with his other writing utensils, and I said 'See you at Katsucon!' And he was gone...
It's only fair that fate pulls out and I see the man with the pencils once again on Saturday...
::now I'm off to go buy soda::
::headbang::
As in true Katsucon form, I've made arrangements at the last minute to go! It seems as if Otakon was only yesterday. My friend Ashley is going to her first con, so it should be exciting for her. Hopefully we have the same crazy memories as last year...
I started a 'new' manga series today called Zombie Powder. It's by Kubo Tite, creator of Bleach. This was the series he was working on before he started Bleach. I've only thumbed through the first few pages, but it reminds me of a cross between Trigun's humor and a main character resembling Ichigo. I'll post back after I read it.
